With a new year there is a fair amount of housekeeping needed for the website. First, the 2022 News Archive page was created to historically capture all of this year’s posts. Next, two tables were added. The first was the Borough Council Meeting Minutes Archive 2022 for recording the agendas and minutes of the monthly meetings. This table can be found on the Government – Borough Council – Monthly Minutes page. The other table is the St. Clair Township Police Department Monthly Summary Reports Archive 2022. This is where the monthly police reports can be found St. Clair Township Police Department. We all know last year was an election year. Four positions were filled on the borough council. Also, the mayor, tax collector, and other positions were voted on. All these changes will require updates to quite a few pages on the website. Below tries to capture most of the updates needed.
There was a special borough council meeting on January 3rd to reorganize the borough council and validate all the members. Four positions were up during the election. Jeff Rager and Chuck O’Shell were reelected to council. Mason Luther and Jason Beatty are the two new members voted onto council who replaced Kristen Teeter and Kay Mayer. Jim Moore and Jeff Rager were reappointed as President and Vice President respectively. Ron Gyure was appointed the chair of the Buildings, Grounds, and Equipment committee with Jason Beatty as the second. Chuck O’Shell was appointed the chair of the Streets and Drains committee with Jeff Rager as the second. Gwen Dellett was appointed the chair of the Grants and Funding committee with Mason Luther as the second. These changes will be captured in an update to the Government-Borough Council-Council Membership page. Below is a picture of the new council at the reorganization meeting.
Due to personal reasons both the newly elected Mayor (Michael J. Betts) and the Tax Collector (Lela O. Walbeck) decided not to take office. At the biannual reorganization meeting on January 3, 2022, the Borough Council appointed Edward Craft as Mayor and Philip Fuller as Tax Collector. Mr. Craft was sworn in at the meeting. Mr. Fuller will be sworn in at a subsequent meeting following training.
The borough council approved the 2022 budget and the tax rate during the December meeting with the passing of Ordinance No. 3 of 2021, BUDGET AND REAL ESTATE TAX RATE FOR 2022. The budget is detailed in the document New Florence Borough 2022 Budget, Finalized 21 December 2021. Both documents were added to the website. One is under the Government – Ordinances page and the other can be found on the Government – Borough Council – Budgets page.
Finally, lots of items were added to the Events Calendar. The New Florence Community Library added 11 events. They are 5 Book Bunch and 5 #READERS Group events added from January through May. The are also having a Valentine’s Day Burlap Wreath Class with Sue Buckles on January 27th. The New Florence Volunteer Fire Department also has a lot of events coming up now through April. There will be sub sales, a Rippie Bash, a Drag Queen Bingo, a Basket Party, and their first BBQ Chicken sale of the year on April 2nd. These events will be added to the calendar as the flyers are created. Please check the Events Calendar frequently for updates.
Let’s all hope that 2022 is a vast improvement over 2021. Thank you. Webmaster.
