NOTE: Lately the borough office has been receiving a lot of complaints about the condition of Rt 711 and Rt 1001 going through the borough.  These roads are maintained by the state, not the borough.  I’ll be adding a section shortly on how to contact the PennDOT Customer Care Center with concerns.  Thanks, Greg.

As many of you know, the Borough of New Florence is a “dry” town.  No alcohol sales can occur within the borough.  Over the years several attempts have been made to get this restriction overturned.  Even my dad, when he and mom owned Rosie’s Restaurant, tried and did get the petition on the ballot a couple of times in the early 80’s but never got enough votes to overturn the ban.  Currently, there is another group of folks trying to get this on the ballot for the next election cycle.  Below is an image of the petition.  Representatives will the at the New Florence Volunteer Fire Department’s sub sale on March 1st.  If you believe the town should be allowed to have alcohol sales, please stop by the sub sale and sign the petition.  Thanks.  Greg
