The New Florence borough operates a yard waste disposal area back 15th street. Residents of the borough may deposit sticks, limbs, brush, grass, and leaves at the disposal area. For years, only the center of the area was used. However, in 2024 the borough designated an area specifically for grass, leaves, mulch, and such that can be composted. Limbs and brush continue to be placed in the center of the area. Clean fill may be dumped along the perimeter. No stumps, logs, garbage, or concrete are permitted.
In July of 2024, the borough council updated the rules for using the lawn refuse area. New signs were posted to help inform residents of the rules. Please know that the area is under video surveillance to make sure individuals do not violate the rules. There have been several cases of individuals leaving garbage, logs, and other non-permitted materials. When this happens, law enforcement gets notified and citations have been issued.
Most importantly, if someone from outside the borough is doing lawn work for you inside the borough, and you have them deliver your lawn refuse to our area, you MUST NOTIFY the borough office prior to doing so. Citations are issues to all individuals that do not live within the borough, and all commercial vehicles that enter the property.
