SUMMARY:Laurel Valley Area Historical Society (LVAHS) Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The group will be receiving a presentation from WWII veteran Whitey Schaller.  His daughter\, Lynn\, will be the actual presenter since Mr. Schaller can no longer speak.  We will hear about Mr. Schaller’s experience as a veteran of WWII\, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge\, and his time as a POW at Stalag.  Because space is limited in the old school building’s basement\, attendance will be limited to 25 people.  Please contact Kathy Mack to reserve a spot for this presentation.  She can be reached at 724-235-2688 or by e-mail at fkmack@verizon.net.   Wooden chairs are available\, but please feel free to bring a more comfortable folding chair.  CDC regulations will apply (masks\, social distancing\, etc.).  Please try and attend this unique opportunity. \nSEATING IS LIMITED!! Fairfield Cemetery\, with a special interest placed on the Covode grave sites. The reason for the change in plans is because Laurel Hill Cemetery was JUST mowed and cleaned up and we want to take advantage seeing it this way. DESCRIPTION:Due to the coronavirus this event has been cancelled.  Hopefully the group can meet in June.  Sorry. \nThe next meeting of the Laurel Valley Area Historical Society (LVAHS) will on Tuesday\, May 5th\, at 6 p.m. at the West Fairfield Auction Barn. We will park at the barn and then walk over to the cemetery across the street\, and examine the graves of John and George Covode (and possibly some others).  If the weather is bad that day\, we will just hold our regular meeting inside the auction barn.  Let’s hope things are back to “normal” for our May meeting.
