DESCRIPTION:Due to a death in the family September 1st produce sale is rescheduled to September 8\, 2022. \nThe New Florence Community Development organization had the first famer’s market on Friday\, August 19th.  Jeremy Auker and his family from Brush Valley brought their locally grown\, farm fresh produce to New Florence. The sale was well attended so they will be back on September 1st from 4pm to 7pm. The location is the recently cleared\, graded\, and graveled front parking lot at the storage facility. The address is 179 Ligonier Street\, across from the New Florence Family Restaurant and beside the post office.  This is still a trial run but things are looking hopefully for it becoming a permanent event.  Please take time to stop on the evening of the 1st.  Thank you!!

DESCRIPTION:This is the first day of school.  Please be careful. \n \nFrom PSP \nNEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nAugust 17\, 2022 \nSchool Bus Safety \nGreensburg\, PA – As the new school year approaches\, the Pennsylvania State Police would like to remind motorists to be alert for school buses\, pedestrians\, and school bus stop locations. Troopers also remind drivers to allow extra travel time during morning and afternoon commutes. \nTitle 75\, Section 3345\, Meeting or Overtaking School Bus\, requires that drivers approaching a stopped school bus with stop arm extended and red lights flashing shall stop at least 10 feet away from the school bus\, whether approaching from behind or from the opposite direction. The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection at which a school bus is stopped shall stop his vehicle at that intersection until the flashing red signal lights are no longer actuated. Upon conviction\, the penalties for a violation of this section include a $250.00 fine\, a 60-day driver’s license suspension\, and 5 points on the motorist’s driving record. \nAccording to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)\, “if physical barriers such as grassy medians\, guide rails or concrete median barriers separate oncoming traffic from the bus\, motorists in the opposing lanes may proceed without stopping.” \nTroopers also encourage parents and caregivers to discuss these safety tips with their children: \n\nWhen waiting for the bus\, stay away from traffic and line up at least five giant steps away from the curb or the roadway to wait for the bus.\nNever run after the school bus if it has already left the bus stop.\nNever push when getting on or off the school bus.\nAlways walk at least 10 feet in front of the bus when crossing so that the school bus driver can see you.\nWhen the school bus is moving\, always stay in your seat and never put your head\, arms\, or hands out of the window.\nNever cross the street behind the school bus.\nNever speak to strangers and never get into a car with a stranger.\nIf walking to school\, wear bright-colored or reflective clothing and use crosswalks where available.\n\nFor more school safety tips\, visit penndot.gov or nhtsa.gov. \nFor more information on the Pennsylvania State Police\, visit psp.pa.gov. \nMEDIA CONTACTS: Troopers Steve Limani\, 724-832-3288\, and Cliff Greenfield\, 724-357-1998\, Twitter: @PSPTroopAPIO \nIn the interest of transparency\, it is the policy of PSP to disseminate information regarding incidents which are likely to generate significant interest among the public and media in a timely manner.
