DESCRIPTION:The New Florence Woman’s Club will have a guest speaker\, Sue Majoris\, at their meeting on September 19th.  The topic is “The Granny Women of the Appalachians” and you can learn how they helped shape the country.  All are invited to attend.  Refreshments will be served afterwards.  If you have any questions\, please give Sue Buckles a call at 724-600-9734. \nGranny women in the Appalachians were older women who served as healers\, midwives\, and stewards of ancestral knowledge. They practiced Appalachian folk healing\, which is also known as “granny magic” or “granny witchcraft”. This tradition was a result of the combination of traditional practices from Scottish\, Irish\, and English settlers\, along with Native American knowledge\, and wisdom from people of African descent and German settlers. \n \n
