Council Membership

The New Florence Borough council membership is made up of 7 members; the President, Vice President, and 5 additional members.  They are elected for 4 year terms.  The current board was installed during the 2 January 2024 meeting based on the municipal voting results of 7 November 2023.  No one ran for office during the spring Primary voting.  Jim Moore, Gwen Dellett, and Ron Gyure were the top three write-in vote getters.  However, only Gwen Dellett elected to remain on council.  During the two January borough council meeting two additional members were appointed to the board via resolutions.  The resolutions are: Resolution 1 of 2024, Appointment of Scott Fuller to Borough Council and Resolution 2 of 2024, Appointment of Edward Craft to Borough Council.  When appointed to borough position the term is only valid until the next election cycle.  The board is listed below along with their term expiration date.

Jason L. Beatty, President6 January 2026
Mason Q. Luther,  Vice President6 January 2026
Gwen Dellett, 8 January 2028

A photograph of the new borough council will hopefully be added after the February regularly scheduled council meeting.  Not everyone was present at the reorganization meeting and Ed Craft had not been appointed to the board yet.

Below is your borough council at the biannual reorganization meeting held on 3 January 2021.

Running for Office

The borough council members are elected to four year terms.  The council seats are split with three seats in one group and four seats in the other.  This provides an overlap of terms for continuity purposes.  Individuals interested in running for office can contact the Westmoreland County Election Bureau.  Here you can learn how to have their name added to the May primary election ballot.  It simply requires filing a petition with at least ten signatures. Petition packets are available for individuals.  You can access the Westmoreland County Election Bureau website for more information on Running for Office.  There are numerous links on the website to help you navigate the process.  You can also contact them at (724) 830-1150.
